Our Why
We believe musicians deserve to build careers that actually fit the lives they want to live.
Too often, the message musicians receive is that success requires sacrifice.
Work harder. Say yes to every opportunity. Do everything yourself. Keep pushing. Figure it out as you go.
And eventually, many talented musicians find themselves exhausted, overwhelmed, and wondering whether the career they worked so hard to build is actually sustainable.
We want to change that.
At The Musician’s Assistant, our mission is to help more musicians create unique career paths without feeling lonely, drained, or burned out in the process.
We want musicians to have careers that fit their lives.
There is no single “right” way to be a professional musician.
For one person, success might mean performing full-time. For another, it might mean teaching, running a studio, freelancing, building a creative business, or combining music with an entirely different career.
We believe musicians should have the freedom to build careers around their own goals, values, interests, and circumstances.
And we believe work should be one part of a fulfilling life—not something that requires sacrificing the rest of it.
We want success to feel sustainable.
Building something meaningful takes work. We’re not here to pretend otherwise.
But constantly being overwhelmed shouldn't be the price of having a successful music career.
We want to help musicians create businesses, systems, and support structures that allow their work to fit more seamlessly into their lives.
Because success isn't just about how much you accomplish.
It’s also about whether you have the time, energy, and capacity to actually enjoy the life you’re building.
We want to change the way musicians think about asking for help.
There is a persistent idea in the entrepreneurial world that doing everything yourself proves that you’re capable.
We think the opposite can be true.
Knowing when you need help—and being willing to ask for it—is a sign that you understand your own strengths, limitations, and priorities.
Delegation isn't failure.
Support isn't weakness.
You don't have to personally handle every task in your business to be a successful business owner.
Sometimes, the strongest thing you can do is recognize that you weren't meant to do it all alone.
This is why The Musician’s Assistant exists.
We want to see more musicians building careers that are sustainable, fulfilling, and uniquely their own.
We want musicians to have support.
We want them to have community.
And we want them to know that they don't have to sacrifice their wellbeing in order to succeed.
A successful music career can look different for everyone. And you get to decide what yours looks like. Get in touch.
